Engr. Eric Atta-Sonno, F.PE.IET(GH), I.CIOB, M.GIOC is a Building Engineer as well as a Real Estate practitioner. He holds undergraduate qualifications in Engineering and Building Technology as well as post-graduate qualification in Real Estate, Construction and Affordable Housing. He also has certificates in Advanced Facilities Management; Project Management; Mortgage Portfolio Management; and Maintenance Management among others.
Engr. Eric Atta-Sonno began his post-qualification working life with a brief stint with the Social Security and National Insurance Trust in 1999 from where he worked for a year and half with the Real Estate Department of the Volta River Authority.
He then worked with Enviro-Techno Consult for four years as a Project Officer undertaking various projects in the building and mechanical services, waste management, water engineering and related services. Between 2004 and 2008, Engr. Eric Atta-Sonno was the Technical Officer responsible for developing innovative house designs that were to be built using locally-available building materials, as well as training teams of artisans on the appropriate construction technology, etc. Since 2008, he has been engaged in various projects in the country including new construction, refurbishment of existing facilities, maintenance and estate management functions in various capacities.
Eric has spent most of his adult life helping young people to discover the purpose of God for their lives as well as prepare them for the future through mentorship.
Eric has a passion to see young people growing into responsible adults who would be fully equipped to effect the changes required into transforming our communities. He also works actively to ensure that society galvanizes its young persons into appreciating the God-factor in turning life’s situations around for good.
Engr. Atta-Sonno is an author with four publications to his credit. These are ‘Building a 21st Century Church on the 1st Century Model’, ‘Kwame Nkrumah – Africa’s Man of the Millenium’, ‘Was it Worth it – Episodes behind the publication of a Book’, and ‘Becoming all things to all Men – Living as God’s Ambassador at all times’. Eric was also the team lead for the publication of the first-ever reference book and almanac for a college, ‘Conquering with Perseverance – Our Past, Our Present and Our Future’ for St. Augustine’s College. Beyond these, he has undertaken researched works on failures of concrete roof structures as well as the utilization of locally-available building materials in the elimination of the national housing deficit. He has also developed four technical manuals which have received the approval of the Habitat for Humanity programme Africa/Middle East Regional Office for usage by its Ghana programme at different levels. He also has eight unpublished works on subjects across various areas of life.
Eric is a Fellow with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET-Ghana) where he currently serves as its Immediate-Past President. He had previously served the institution in several capacities beginning 2005.
In addition to the IET, he also holds membership in Ghana Institute of Construction (GIOC) and Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB).
Engr Atta-Sonno currently serves as a member of the Governing Board of the Engineering Council of Ghana. He also serves as the Chairman of the Public and International Affairs Committee of the Engineering Council.
Engr. Eric Atta-Sonno is a devout Christian currently fellowshipping with The Church of Pentecost International Worship Centre-Atomic where he is an Elder and the District Secretary. He also serves The Church of Pentecost as the Assistant Youth Leader for the Haatso Area, Member of the Working Team for the Kaneshie Sector of the Pentecost Students an Associates (PENSA). He is also the Executive Director of Generational Impact Platform (GiP), a Board Member for Fuller Centre for Housing (Ghana) and Secretary for the St. Augustine’s Past Students’ Union (APSU) worldwide.
Eric is married to Gloria with whom they have two children.
